actions which can be done on checkbox

Hi

I wanted to know what all actions can be triggered on the checking/unchecking a checkbox.
displaying information when you select the checkbox , does that allow to display than readiding information.
Can there be input fields displayed linked to checking and unchecking of checkbox.
